NeversThe Chaple of St GildardOn our 6 day pilgrimage, we leave Lourdes to follow in the footsteps of Saint Bernadette. In June 1866, when Bernadette was age 17, she left Lourdes forever to go and join the Convent of St Gildard in Nevers, taking her perpetual vows in 1878. She died in 1879 at the age of 36 after long and painful sufferings which bore her |

Staying at this very same convent, you can enjoy the wonderful peaceful atmosphere as you visit the old infirmary where she died, the chapel where she is enshrined, and the gardens where she used to work and pray. She was beatified by Pope Pius XI in 1925, canonized by him in 1933. We will have Mass at the Chapel and also venerate the incorrupt body of St Bernadette which is at the high alter. After this deeply moving spiritual experience, we bid adieu to Bernadette and head south to the eternal city of light, Paris. The Story of Bernadette click here > |
